Fresh off of our visit from St. Louis, we arrived in Ohio Monday evening and drove straight to my parents' office where they were putting in their long work day of the week. Brian and I spent Tuesday taking care of business -- getting the oil changed in the van as well as removing the tint from the driver and passenger front windows in preparation for it to be shipped to Germany (where tint is illegal on those windows) and making a laundry list of phone calls. We also made a point to visit my grandmother on my dad's side who was in the hospital. She had a fall which resulted in a fractured vertebra the day we got into St. Louis and had just been through surgery when arrived in Ohio so we spent a few evenings visiting her in the hospital and then again after she was transferred to the nursing home.
My mom and dad watched Ellie for an evening so Brian and I could enjoy a belated anniversary dinner.
We enjoyed drinks and a delicious appetizer of sauerkraut balls (comfort food at it's best) at Stubby's in Amherst before heading around the corner for dinner at Cork's.
Dessert was casual but so yummy: soft serve from K-Cream Corner! A walk on the pier at sunset with an ice cream cone in one hand and my husband's hand in the other -- the perfect way to end our date.
Altogether the week went by rather quickly so I didn't take very many pictures. It was miserably hot and humid, so we stayed inside and enjoyed spending time with my parents. My brother came in on Friday evening to see us before we left for Virginia the following morning.
Ellie loves her Uncle Bryan.
With bags packed (yet again!), we left Saturday morning to drive to Virginia so Brian could get to his 4-week course in Norfolk and I could spend a week with my good friend Sara in Yorktown. At this point we only had about four more weeks left in the States!
