Parenting can be hard work. Really hard work, especially parenting a very independent and opinionated four-year-old while at the same time tending to the needs an infant. That said, last night I got very sentimental and teary while looking at old pictures of Ellie. I can't believe how much she's grown and changed and I think a part of me misses the sweet toddler who rarely gave me much sass or attitude (who's with me when I say preschoolers act way too much like teenagers?!?).
Today after she got back from kindergarten I was still in the sentimental mood and made sure to give her plenty of hugs and kisses. Sensing my mood, I told her, "I just love you and your sister so much."
Ellie's response? "But mom, you can love me even when I'm an adult."
You can say that again, kid.
