With the exception of only a few summery-feeling days, it's really felt like fall ever since we got to Germany. A far cry from the 80-degree weather we would get in Tucson well into October! Although I do miss the sunny, warm climes of Arizona, it's nice to have fall-like weather when it's actually fall! Several weekends ago, right before we moved into our house, we checked out the Vaihingen Herbst (Autumn) Fest. Vaihingen is our neighboring city and what better way to get to know our new community than attending their fall festival? On a side note, Ellie is really getting into the idea of fests, and it's one of her favorite things to pretend. She'll set up all her pretend food and ask us to come to the "fest!" She's obsessed.
After eating some delicious wurst sold by the local butcher with a side of pommes (fries), we had to satisfy our sweet tooth with some some ice cream while watching a local band perform. I was thrown off every time they finished a song (all American and sung in English) then started speaking in German. Although these pictures don't foretell Ellie spending the majority of that night awake with a cold, I'm glad we were able to enjoy ourselves beforehand!
