Ellie found a new friend in Ohio. Her darling cousins took her to the Build-a-Bear workshop in Toledo to pick out a friend to take to Germany. If you're not familiar with the Build-a Bear process, you actually "build" a bear (or cat/dog/etc.): first you pick out the un-stuffed skin (slightly creepy if you ask me), have the animal stuffed, include a little heart inside with the stuffing, have them sewn up and then "groom" your new friend at the grooming station. Ellie's choice is an obvious match for her "colorful" personality (don't mind the fuzzy picture).
Nic and SAM, as if they weren't sweet already for taking Ellie on this fun trip, each included a heart in Ellie's bear so a part of them would always be close to their cousin. Awww.
She was the darling of the mall walking out with Bear.
At first it was thought that bear might have taken Duck's place as the most loved stuffed animal when, for the first several days, Bear (whom Ellie coincidentally named "Ellie") was requested for bedtime. Duck has since retained his standing as Ellie's favorite nap- and bed-time friend. This might also be due to Mom's enforcement of the "you can take only one friend to bed with you" policy.
