Girls' Morning in the City
Early in November my friend Laurel and I made plans to check out the annual Pfennigbasar, Stuttgart's largest indoor flea market. Since her daughter Lyla hadn't started school yet, Laurel and I decided to make a morning of it with our girls. They drove up to our house (Ellie was jumping up and down screaming "Lyla!!" when she saw them pull up into the drive) and all of us piled into the S-Bahn to head downtown. As it turns out, the Pfennigbasar was more second-hand clothes than the antiques and household goods we were hoping there would be and, after standing in line for ten minutes then finding out it would be more than an hour just to get in, we decided to bail and walk around downtown Stuttgart instead. We went to the farmers market and checked out the five-story toy store that carried the coolest toys you would never find in the States. The weather was beautiful and it turned out to be a great morning!
